#40 Acts ~ Be Generous :: Be Neighbourly

Yesterday's challenge was to write a blessing list for those we wish to bless in Lent and to also work on a generosity kit.  We decided to nominate the back pack project run by Mary's Meals as our generosity offering.  The kids also worked on decorating a giving jar.  The sunflower design is the logo attached to our local hospice and the money raised will be given to them at the end of Lent.

Whilst shopping this morning I plucked up the courage to speak to someone who I had not seen in over twelve years, I wasn't sure if she remembered me but she did!  It was good to share what had been happening in our respective families during that time.  I also managed to buy some potted primroses for another friend and we were able to bless her with a surprise when she came to visit later in the day:

By God's grace I was also able to support another friend in need.  It reminded me of all the times that friends have stepped in when we have hit a crisis and it was good to be on the giving side for a change.

If you have a few moments watch the video attached to today's challenge, it is priceless ... remember to watch right to the end as the camera kept rolling and it was just fab!  40 Acts Challenge Chinwag

That was a fabulous video! Wow. 98. She was amazing! She had such wonderful energy and motivation. Your post today is inspiring San :) I love the giving jar and the primroses. Do you and Pip read the Brambly Hedge books?

Great projects, San! I will watch the video tomorrow, it is kind of late tonight and I had to install lots of updates to my computer via instruction from the Helpdesk at home. So my whole evening consisted in turning on and off my laptop to fix everything that was not right anymore. We do miss spring flowers here, there are no snowdrops to be seen. Flora was already very sad about this.

That sounds like such a lovely way to observe Lent. Thank you for the link I will watch it later. I do hope you are all feeling a little better now?

Yes we love the Brambley Hedge series, even Benedict still listens to them, especially if he is feeling under the weather.

In my haste to congratulate you on the warmth, I clean forgot that you would be missing one entire season and Flora's perception on missing the first signs of Spring, really touched me. It just shows how closely you have lived the seasons with your crew and that they have been an important anchoring point alongside your faith throughout the turning of the year.

San xx

Benedict is much improved and I have had a better day today but Pip is still not fully fit and so there is a big question mark on her returning to school next week, these next few days will be the deciding factor.

Such nice words, San! Sometimes I am amazed myself how much our early impressions really from us. Children are like sponges, they take everything in unfiltered. When they get older you realize that all the things you showed them when they were little did make an impression. And so it is so important what you do with your children when they are really small.
