Diwali
We took Pip and AJ to see a Diwali based interactive theatre production entitled, 'Heart of Light.' The show was performed by two actors associated with the Forest Tribe Dance Theatre and they did an amazing job telling the story of Rama and Sita:
The audience were part of Hanuman's monkey army and we had to help build the bridge so that Rama could save Sita from the evil snatches of Ravana:
Confectionary Badge
Pip has completed all three stages of her confectionary badge. Her brief was to make one sweet and one baker's confectionary, she then had to make sweet food associated with a festival and her last challenge was to make something from your favourite place. Therefore in addition to the fudge she also made the following treats:
Apple Turnovers
Sticky Date and Coconut Diwali Sweets
Cardomom and Pistachio Shortbread Biscuits, another Diwali recipe
Gloucestershire Apple and Cheddar Cake.
Pip loved visiting Gloucester and spending time with Uncle Mike and so she made this cake in his memory. Our next door neighbour Ann kindly loaned a loaf tin and so in return Pip gave them a slice each of the cake :-)
Halloween Party
It was Pip's first Halloween party with Guides and she opted for a skeleton cat theme and as a result of my efforts she won first prize, a bag of sweets!
