It has been a while and I certainly hadn't meant to step away from this space for so long. Long Covid is a tricky beast to live with and it doesn't take much to knock me off my limited baseline. I have missed updating here and checking in on friends so here is a short whistle stop tour of the past ten months:
During the first half of this year as you can see knitting and a bit of crochet featured heavily, sock knitting in particular! Scrappy socks using left over yarn and birthday socks were made and this was quite an achievement since I struggled to remember how to follow a simple sock pattern! As my cognitive functioning began to improve other items were made, some baby cardigans for a cousin, a crochet balaclava for Sara and Barbara the emotional support chicken for Pip.
We have another Grand-baby on the way due around Christmas time ❤️
Ben turned 21 in June and amongst other things a walnut and coffee cake was requested.
We visited a local military museum with Pip at the start of the summer break.
The highlight of Pip's summer was visiting Liverpool football stadium and museum. It was a very challenging drive for me even though it is only just over an hour away, and Pip did her bit by pushing me around in the wheelchair. It was worth every minute to see that smile on her face.
We are now back to college on Wednesdays which she absolutely loves and her last year of Inter-high and GCSEs with all that entails 😕
It's been a cognitive challenge finding my way around this space and I cannot remember how to reduce photos or put them in a folder 😂, so I guess I've some learning to do!
If you've stopped by here to wave hello then thank you x

Waving hello from Hastings! ❤️
Hi Pen xxx
Wow, your handwork projects are beautiful! I bet that Pip is happy about that chicken with all her work. I have never knitted a pair of socks and I think I never will. I am too impatient. And those baby outfits are so cute! You have to knit one for the new grandbaby. Mary looks much more like her mother now, I think. How tall she has gotten! And happy birthday to Ben! 21 is the big birthday for Americans. Does he like coffee? And it is lovely you did those outings although driving has become hard. Pip does look happy. I think writing more here again and doing all those handwork projects will improve your cognitive function!
Hi San it was lovely to see a post from you pop up in my feed. Like you I have taken a long break and am back blogging. I think things had changed on blogger since I was last on here it took some searching to work out how to do things again.
I cannot believe Ben is 21, wow, C is 20 soon too, time flies, eh? I hope Pip is settled back into college, A is still at home with me, she has no desire to go to college or do exams at the moment.
I also cannot believe how grown up Mary is, wow how old is she now? 10? Who is the little one on the sofa with her?
Love all your crafty projects, what a great idea to knit socks using the ends of balls, I have loads of them maybe I should knit up some random pairs!
Stay well San and look after yourself xxx
WELCOME BACK!!!! Lovely to see you here! I love your beautiful socks! The Emotional support chicken is really sweet too!!!
Cannot believe Pip is up to GCSE's!!! And Ben is 21!!! Amazing!
That looks like Pip had a great time at Liverppool!
Hope your health improves.xx
Hi Eva, thanks for stopping by and yes I’m hoping to post more in this corner of the internet. Ben loves coffee and tea. He’s not too fussed about coffee brands but is very particular about his tea 😂🩷
Hi S 🙂. I noticed too that you’ve made some posts and I’m hoping to pop over and catch up with you 🩷. Mary is now 11 and has just started secondary school. The little tot sat next to her is her younger sister Ottilie who was 2 in August. Mary is a fab big sister and we are all looking forward to the new arrival 🩷
PiP absolutely loves college it is the highlight of her week. She can be a bit meh about GCSE exams but having got this far she knows the end is in sight. Mock exams are in ten weeks so there’s a whole lot of revision going on 🤪
Scrappy socks are a lot of fun and I would highly recommend them xx
Hi Kezzie, thanks for the welcome. Hoping to post more regularly and to check in on friends like you xx
Ah, I think Ben is truly British!
Oh San, how lovely to see a post! Really glad you were feeling well enough for the writerly effort! I have been managing, just barely, to keep my hand in the blogging. I love it so, still, and yet life has altered so radically with my myriad disabilities and chronic illnesses that it is all such a challenge. I know you understand! I hope and pray your long covid functionality continues to improve! … hard to fathom Ben being 21 now, but my boyo is 22 (!!) so there you go! Exciting to have a new grandbaby on the way, what fun. And oh my, gcses for Pip. Praying all best for her going into all of that! 📚📚📚
As others have said , it is lovely to see you post . Wonderful news about the new baby and B and P look to be thriving
I wish I could knit like you
Siobhan x
Ah Siobhan so lovely to ‘see’ you 🙂. You’ve been on my mind - I hope you are doing as well as possible xxx
Waving Hello! all the way from Denmark.
So lovely to 'see' you! Thank you so much for popping by 😊. I'm hoping to post a little more frequently, when time and health allow. I hope you are doing as well as possible xx
Hello San, it's funny but I remember writing a comment for your post in September. I must not have published it. It's really nice to catch up with you. I can't believe how grown up Mary Grace looks and little Ottilie is adorable (as is the furry big brother!) Happy 21 to Ben and it's wonderful to see Pip's beautiful smile. Good luck to her with the GCSE tests. Your knitted FOs are beautiful!!! I haven't been sock knitting as I've been all thumbs with casting on. Maybe I should try toe up socks? I wonder if they would be easier. I'm very excited about your new grand-baby! I wonder how close to Pip's birthday the little one will arrive?! Sending you much love xoxoxo
Lovely to see an update and all your knitting projects. Love the chicken!! I hope your health continues to improve. Your children are young adults now! And a new grandchild! My eldest grandson is getting married in January :) Makes me feel rather old :)) xx
