House Pictures and Moving Tales

We have been in this home for just over two weeks and since we have now have internet I thought it would be good to share some photos of the place.  This post includes the photos from the sale brochure and then over the next few days I will upload the same rooms with our stuff installed!

Mine and Dave's Room.

 Pip's Bedroom.

 Ben's Room.

 Dining Room.

 Front View.

Back View - The large room with double doors is the home school area/ craft room.  The children's play house was not part of the purchase and was removed shortly before we moved in.

 Kitchen - View One.

 Kitchen - View Two.

 The Lounge.

 House Plan.

View from the bottom end of the garden, where Dave's workshop will reside.

Patio area just outside the kitchen door and our bedroom.

We have pretty much found a place for everything and thankfully there hasn't been too much shifting around of items!  I still haven't found my St Michael Icon which I painted a few years ago and I'm hoping he hasn't been left behind!  I must admit I didn't do a walk through the old house when we dropped off the keys, not only was I feeling unwell but time was against me and we needed to collect the keys for the new place.  I'm sure I will find him tucked in a cupboard somewhere, but since I didn't unpack all the boxes the big question is " Where can he be?!"  Ah, well :-)

It has been a half term break in these parts so we have done some home school activities on the days when we haven't had visitors.  Dave's side of the family visited on Tuesday and some long standing friends with their two girls visited on Thursday.

Pip had a physio appointment yesterday and she has swelling and pain in her left knee.  The diagnosis is a sudden growth spurt coupled with joint hypermobility syndrome.  The latter is a genetic connective tissue disorder and unfortunately she has inherited it from me.  It was a light bulb moment in that examination room and it helped me understand why my wrist and finger joints have been so painful these past few weeks. The poor lass had hoped to join a local football academy but that is currently on hold since her knee joint is unstable and her thigh muscle on that side is weaker than the right.  She has physio exercises twice a day and an ice pack to be applied three times a day.  Swimming is fine as is short walks but anything else is a big no.  She has a follow up appointment in four weeks time.

We attended mass this evening at our new parish which was not only welcoming but very accessible, which is much appreciated :-)  Despite a few hiccups, it has been a good week and the house is a good fit in so many ways.

Pictures from the past few weeks:

All ready and waiting to load, what an interesting way to spend your 30th wedding anniversary ( Thursday 11th)

 Nomads for one night.

No yummy dessert for me, boo!

 Plugged in = Peace.

Making use of the wi-fi and checking emails.

Uncle Bry hanging the curtains in Pip's room.  Moving in day ( Friday 12th) was a crazy mix of locked doors and misplaced keys.  I literally fell into bed that night!  No chance of a lie in the next day as Uncle Bry was calling to fix the curtain track in our room and Fred's plane landed at 8:30am and by 10:30am I was collecting him from Lancaster station!

Uncle Bry and Fred discussing the curtain track dilemma :-)

Fred and Dave installing the washing machine, it sure was a tight fit!

Our first evening meal in the new home on Saturday 13th, the day that Fred arrived.  The previous night we had lovely gluten free fish and chips at the Ocean restaurant just five minutes down the road!

Fred washing up on his last night; we are hoping that he will visit between Christmas and New Year.

San, it's such a lovely little house. All of you look so cozy having dinner around the dining room table. I'm so glad you are moved in and can now settle down for the winter :) xoxoxo

Yes it is cozy and retains the heat really well. In addition we have solar gain via the big windows in the lounge and adjoining dining room :-) Looking forward to spending our first Christmas here :-) xx

Forgot to mention that we have nicknamed this place The Tardis!! IT looks small on the outside but is in fact bigger than the last home :-). I won't however be painting the outside blue!

Thanks Sue! We are really pleased with our new home and Thomas Bear has also found a new abode, he sits quite happily on the small bookcase in the lounge. I think he likes the new place :-)

That's so great! I watched my first Dr. Who episode with Korrina while in Saugerties. Can you believe I'd never seen one before? I loved Jodie Whittaker, and feel so fortunate that she's my first Dr. Who LOL :) I can't wait to see how the rooms look with all your lovely furniture xoxo

It looks like a bright and light-filled house! Is it much bigger or smaller than the old one? How does everybody else like it? Did you find St. Michael? I hope Pip's knee is doing better. Miriam and Charlotte get physical therapy once a month for mild scoliosis. They also have to do exercises every day. So we do sympathize!

P.S. Oh, and now I know what Fred looks like! How is is English?

The house is a bit bigger than the old place. It is light and airy and the placement of the rooms means the house is well organised and accessible. Ben really misses the old place and Pip has had the odd wobble; Dave and I really love the house and the area.

I haven't yet found St Michael I think I will have to go through all the drawers and cupboards in the outside room!

Thanks for the sympathies regarding Pip, she is good about doing her exercises but frustrated about being unable to do lots of activities. Hopefully it will resolve.

Fred is a really great friend :-). His English is impeccable! He studied Russian, Polish and Spanish at the Sorbonne. He is one clever guy 😀 Xx
