Povero Mary
In the early hours of Friday morning Mary was admitted to Manchester Children's Hospital, Burns Unit. Both her and Kath had enjoyed a lovely beach BBQ tea with some friends the night before but unfortunately Mary had stood on the stone where the portable BBQ had been placed. To make matters worse when she then stepped back her foot was placed in the sand and the heat was sealed in. A lady from a nearby caravan came out with a bucket of cold water whilst they were waiting for the ambulance. The nearby hospital recognised that this was beyond their expertise hence the move the Manchester. Mary has been very brave (and Kath too!), fitting the specialist dressing and cream was pretty harrowing but thanks to a sedative and morphine Mary cannot remember what happened. Her pain levels are under control and thankfully she is in good spirits.
I am so sorry to hear this San. It sounds like she is getting the very best care she needs. You must be so worried about them both. I do hope Mary continues to heal well and there is little long term damage to her foot. Thinking of you all at this difficult time xxxx
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words and for thinking of us. She currently has no feeling in her foot which is a bit worrying.
ReplyDeletePoor Mary! That must have hurt! How long does she have to stay in the hospital? It must have been a great shock for everybody.
ReplyDeleteIt’s a really serious injury. We are hoping she will be discharged today but Kath might have to travel to Manchester every other day for a dressing change (two and a half hours one way) unless the community team can visit at home. It’s been a worry for everyone for sure x
DeleteOh no!!! Oh, San, how sorry I am to read this! Poor wee girl! Prayers ascending for Mary, and for her medical team, and for all of you. XOX
ReplyDeleteThank you 🙂. She has been given the all clear to go home today with a weekly return for dressing changes, thank God ❤️
DeleteDear San, I'll keep Mary in our prayers for good healing and to soon have a strong, well foot. Kath must have been frantic, and poor dear Mary . . . it's a lot to go through. Thank goodness it's a weekly return for the dressing change. I hope both Kath and Mary are breathing more easily and feeling a bit better now that Mary can be home. Sending all of you a big hug. xoxo, Dorina
ReplyDeleteSpoke to soon :-(. She’s still in hospital, she was unwell yesterday, not eating and refusing to get out of bed. She was sick last night. Another visit from physio this morning and possible pain team, it’s really hard for Kath and your prayers are appreciated x
DeleteCould the morphine cause the refusal to eat? It is a wonderful pain killer, but can cause major digestive problems. I know this from myself.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!!! That's dreadful! I hope and pray she will be better soon!
ReplyDeleteShe’s home thank God!
DeleteLoving you all from afar. We hope and pray she'll be better xoxo
ReplyDeleteShe made it home yesterday thank God 🙂
DeleteWonderful!
ReplyDeleteShe is home ❤️ Thank you for your prayers and your brilliant email, when I have access to the computer tomorrow I will write a reply. You are a ⭐️
DeleteSo good to hear she is home. Prayers continuing!
ReplyDeleteHello San, We're so glad she is home! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteHow is she doing now?
ReplyDeleteShe has made good progress, had a dressing change on Monday and the consultant was really impressed with the healing and Praise God no infection 🙂.
DeleteGreat! She was lucky.
ReplyDeletePrayers continuing for ongoing healing! xox
