The miracle of life and this time it won't be me doing the labouring! Instead it will be our lovely daughter Kathryn, I however have been drafted in as birth partner, *gulp*. I only know how to do things from the labouring woman's perspective so on my reading list are a few doula books. I've also earmarked a film about Ina May Gaskin and The Farm, courtesy of you tube.
:D Congratulations to the whole family! xxx
ReplyDeleteHuge congratulations to you all San! Lovely news :) I'd certainly recommend any of Ina May's books - I didn't know there was a Youtube film, will have to go look now xx
ReplyDeleteYou'll be a grandma! Congratulations! Now you need to read The Birthpartner!
ReplyDeleteThanks for that, I will be buying a copy!
DeletePeter re-read it before each upcoming birth, just in case we wouldn't make it to the hospital -- the next hospital here is about 45 to 50 minutes away. And even for our homebirth it was quite helpful because the midwife almost didn't make it in time.
DeleteOh so many congrats! You get to knit for a baby!! My mum adores being a grandmother, so much love to you all, so special!!! Claire xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your lovely words.

Also, I must say, and have been meaning to post earlier - how fantastic are the socks you knitted Iona!!!! Really, they are the only ones we have that stay on, and are warm. So many thanks again xox

oh, san . . is the sock pattern for iona a baby sock bootie? if so, would you share it with me? there are a few dance teachers who are expecting and i've yet to conquer baby booties . . and it would be nice to try knitting some that actually stay on. i remember the girls' socks being kicked off all the time. the only ones that stayed on were the hannas.
ReplyDeleteThe pattern is on ravelry, I will find it send you the link on there as I've added you as a friend!
DeleteSan xx
Congratulations! I'm sure you'll make a wonderful birthing partner!
